Are veneers permanent?

Yes, because they are bonded to the surfaces of your teeth, veneers are permanent and can only be removed, repaired, or replaced by your dentist. Veneers will eventually need to be replaced, just like all dental work, but you can expect them to last up to a decade or more.

How long do veneers last?

Composite resin veneers are not as strong as other options and typically last 5-7 years before needing to be repaired or replaced. Porcelain veneers typically have a lifespan of 10-15 years, while ceramic veneers can last 20 years or more. You can extend the lifespan of your veneers with regular cleanings and good at-home oral care.

Do veneers hurt?

Veneers are generally an easy, painless procedure. Your dentist will remove an ultra-thin layer of enamel from your teeth to prepare them to receive the veneers, but this shouldn’t cause you any discomfort. We will administer local anesthesia as needed to numb the area so you won’t feel anything.
